DICKINSON, N.D. -- The University of Providence had one athlete crowned champion and two others reach the placement matches at the Tyler Plummer Classic on Saturday.
Freshman
Myles Christen was the highlight for the Argos finishing his day 3-0 and taking first place in the 157 bracket. Christen pinned Leo Pedregal in 1:48, defeated Willard Sprenger 5-4, and beat Gage Anderson 4-2 in the championship match.
Senior
Hunter Dyer placed fourth on Saturday pinning Doogjoon Gin in 1:13 and beat Tugg Taylor 14-13 but fell to Koltyn Grebel to finish in fourth.
Freshman
Mason Aiken also advanced to the placement matches defeating Daniel Reza 13-8 and pinned Dalton Hinebauch twice in 6:44 and 2:47 to finish in fifth.
The Argos will be back in action Feb. 6-7 when they head to Arizona for a pair of duals. UP will face #9 Embry-Riddle at 12:00 p.m. (MST) on Friday prior to facing #14 Arizona Christian at 12:00 p.m. (MST) on Saturday.
