BUTTE, Mont. -- The University of Providence men's basketball team fell to #19 Montana Tech 80-66 Friday night.

The Orediggers (13-3) scored the first basket of the game but a jumper on the other end from sophomore Anthony Hobbs brought the Argos (2-14) within one.

Both teams traded baskets over the next nine minutes until an 8-0 run from the Orediggers put Montana Tech ahead 26-16.

The Argos responded with a 13-2 run behind three-pointers from senior Brendan Redhead and junior Marvel Chambers Jr. to take a 29-28 lead, but Montana Tech slowly took back the lead off a layup with 30 seconds left to put the Orediggers ahead 37-35 at halftime.

Montana Tech opened the second half with a 7-0 run, and following a layup from sophomore Quinn Swanson, a three-pointer from the Orediggers gave Montana Tech a 47-37 edge.

Montana Tech slowly pushed the lead out to 16 over the next nine minutes, and despite late pressure from the Argos, UP fell to #19 Montana Tech 80-66.

Junior Marvel Chambers Jr. led the way for the Argos with 17 points and senior Jakub Lloyd, and junior Marcus Lawson added 11 apiece.

The Argos will be back in action Saturday, Jan. 10 when they head to Dillon, Mont. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (MST) versus Montana Western.
