CEDAR FALLS, Iowa – The University of Providence women's wrestling program defeated #18 Dickinson State 37-6 and #11 Southern Oregon 34-9 to advance to the semifinals of the National Dual Meet Championships Friday afternoon.

In the first dual of the day, the Argos started strong following a forfeit from the Blue Hawks, at 117 freshman Joely Slyter defeated #17 Makayla Jardine 13-3 to put UP ahead 9-6.

The Argos would win all seven remaining matches with #3 Alyssa Randles and Kailey Rees winning by tech fall and #1 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp, #7 Elise Twait, #9 Aspen Dodge, #10 Kassidy Sigda, and freshman Sydnee Nielson all won via pin to secure the Argos 37-6 victory.

In the quarterfinal match against #11 Southern Oregon, UP won the first eight matches when #1 Erin Hikiji pinned Michaela Sarmiento in 1:01, #3 Paige Morales defeated #12 Briseis Serrano 10-0, and #8 Slyter defeated Deandre Meza 10-5.

The Argos continued their momentum with #3 Alyssa Randles defeating Kaylee Annis 6-0, #1 Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp pinned #11 Jade Morales in 24 seconds, #5 Esther Han defeated Makayla Correa 9-2, and #9 Hailey Sutton pinned Quilaztil Miguel-Lapham in 2:39 to secure the Argos 34-9 victory. Following a 2-0 day on Friday, the Argos advanced to their third straight NWCA National Duals Semifinal where they will meet #3 Grand View for a trip to the championship. 

The Argos will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 10 for the semifinals of the National Dual Meet Championships. UP will wrestle #3 Grand View at 9:30 a.m. (MST) in the Uni-Dome.
