GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program fell to #16 Bellevue 3-0 Friday night.
In the first set both teams traded runs until seven straight from the Bruins (14-2) put Bellevue University ahead 19-13. The Argos (12-5) quickly answered with an 8-2 stretch to bring the set within one behind kills from freshman
Brooklyn Hillman, senior
Martyna Fiedler, and junior
Karolina Karabasz, but the Bruins scored three of the last five points of the set to secure the first 25-23.
In set two the Bruins jumped out to an early 12-7 lead, but the Argos answered with a 5-1 stretch behind kills from senior
Cabry Badley and Hillman to tie the set at 12. Bellevue responded to push their lead out to four, and despite a pair of late kills from freshman
Bree MacDonald, Bellevue scored three of the final four points to secure the second 25-20.
In the third set Bellevue took control early taking a 14-6 lead, but the Argos responded with five straight off a pair of kills from Badley to shorten the Bruin advantage to three. Both sides traded points until a 4-0 run from the Argos off a pair of kills from MacDonald tied the set at 24, but the Bruins scored the final two points of the set to secure the third 26-24, and the match 3-0.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 3 when they host Dakota State in Great Falls at 2:00 p.m.
