GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence Athletic Department is proud to announce the opening of the new First Interstate Bank Recovery Room, located within the Harold & Carmen Poulsen Fitness & Recreation Center in the McLaughlin Center. The state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment in the health, wellness, and performance of Argo student-athletes.
"I'd like to thank our partners at First Interstate Bank for helping us enhance the student-athlete experience and expand opportunities for health and wellness. This project would not have been possible without their generous grant support," said Athletic Director
Dannette Swift. "Success is built not only through hard work and competition, but also through preparation, recovery, and a commitment to being ready when it matters most. This space reflects our continued investment in the overall health, performance, and success of our student-athletes. The support we receive from our Great Falls community makes a tremendous difference in what we can accomplish for our Argos."
What began as a long-standing vision to create a dedicated recovery space for Argo student-athletes has become a reality in just a matter of months. The First Interstate Bank Recovery Room is the first facility of its kind in the Frontier Conference, providing University of Providence student-athletes with access to specialized equipment designed to support muscle recovery, reduce post-exercise soreness, and help them prepare for their next practice or competition.
The project was shaped by the extensive experience of Assistant Athletic Director and Head Athletic Trainer, Brad Beffert, who spent 25 years serving as the University's head athletic trainer. Drawing on his decades of experience working directly with student-athletes, Beffert helped design a space that prioritizes recovery, accessibility, and performance, with support from First Interstate Bank making the vision possible.
The facility features 10 dedicated recovery stations equipped with advanced Normatec compression systems, Hyperice percussion massage devices, and vibrating foam rollers. Together, these resources provide student-athletes with additional tools to support recovery, maintain physical readiness, and maximize their training and competitive experiences.
The First Interstate Bank Recovery Room features:
- 10 Normatec 3 Dynamic Compression Systems to support circulation and post-exercise recovery.
- 10 Zero-Gravity Ergonomic Lounge Chairs designed to promote comfort and relaxation during recovery sessions.
- 10 Pairs of Five-Zone Compression Boots featuring overlapping zones for targeted leg compression.
- 6 Hyperice Percussion Massage Devices to support muscle recovery and relieve tension.
- 4 High-Intensity Vibrating Foam Rollers to assist with muscle relaxation and mobility.
- 2 Commercial Mobile Charging Carts and high-density stretching mats to support convenience and flexibility within the space.
The new First Interstate Bank Recovery Room reinforces the University of Providence's commitment to providing student-athletes with the resources they need to succeed in competition, in the classroom, and beyond. Through strong community partnerships and continued investment in student-athlete development, the University is creating opportunities for Argos to perform at their best while prioritizing their long-term health and well-being.
