GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball team fell to Montana Western 85-62 Friday night.
The Argos (5-22) scored the first basket of the game behind a layup from sophomore
Quinn Swanson and following a dunk on the other end from the Bulldogs (19-8), a layup from senior
Jakub Lloyd put UP in front 4-2.
Both teams traded baskets until triples from senior
Brendan Redhead and Swanson gave the Argos a 12-8 edge.
The Argos continued their momentum with a three-pointer and layup from Swanson to make it 21-14 midway through the first half.
Montana Western answered with a 9-0 run to take a 26-23 lead but a layup from senior
Britt Murray kept the Argos within one.
The Bulldogs slowly extended their lead the rest of the half as the Argos trailed 42-32 heading into halftime.
Montana Western pushed the lead out to 14 to begin the second half but free throws from Swanson and a layup from Redhead made it 59-48.
Over the next five minutes the Bulldogs increased the lead to 23, and despite a late three from junior
Jacob Buchignani, UP fell to Montana Western 85-62.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 21 when they host Montana Tech for Senior Night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. in Great Falls, Mont. Â Â
