JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The University of Providence softball program fell to the University of Jamestown in the season opener Thursday night.
 
In game one Argos (0-2) got on the board first when junior Erin Bishop singled to score junior Kasidy Yeoman from third.
 
The Jimmies (2-0) quickly answered tying the game at one in the bottom of the first and would continue their momentum adding six runs in the bottom of the second to take a 7-1 lead.
 
The Argos pushed another run across when senior Tiffany Fuentes put the ball in play to score Erin Bishop, but the Jimmies added five runs in the bottom of the fourth as UP fell in game one 12-2.
 
In game two the Argos once again pushed the first runner across when in the top of the first junior Alix Bishop doubled to left field to score Erin Bishop and Yeoman to give UP a 2-0 lead.
 
The Argos pushed their lead to three in the top of the fourth when senior Jaden Ruiz singled to score sophomore Madison White.
 
The Jimmies slowly cut into the lead by adding one run in the fourth, and two in the sixth to tie the game at three, and despite five strong innings on the mound from junior Ashley Mitchell, Jamestown scored in the bottom of the seventh to take the second game of the double-header 4-3.
