Argos Finish Day Two of the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament 2-0

JAMESTOWN, N.D. -- The University of Providence softball program went 2-0 on day two of the Nelson Family Bubble Tournament defeating Bismarck State 8-7 and Minnesota Moorhead 5-3.
 
In game one the Argos (2-2) pushed the first runners across when in the top of the first junior Tehneson Ehnes tripled to right field to score junior Kasidy Yeoman.
 
The Argos did not stop there adding another pair of runs in the first when junior Erin Bishop doubled to left to score Ehnes and then crossed home herself on a double steal to put UP in front 3-0.
 
UP continued their avalanche of runs adding three in the top of the third when Erin Bishop singled to left and Alix Bishop hit a two RBI ground-rule double to give the Argos a 6-0 lead.
 
The Mystics (0-1) answered, adding a pair of runs in the bottom of the third, but a fielder's choice from Ehnes scored Yeoman to extend the Argo lead to 8-2.
 
Bismarck State did not go away, adding two runs in the fourth, two runs in the fifth, and one run in the seventh to bring the game within one, but junior Kaily Gull slammed the door to secure the Argos 8-7 victory.
 
In game two against Minnesota Moorehead the Dragons (0-5) got out to an early 3-0 lead but the Argos answered with an RBI double from Alix Bishop and an RBI from Madison Moultray to cut the Dragons lead to one.
 
The Argos continued their momentum with a two RBI double from Alix Bishop in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead and in the bottom of the fourth freshman Aleana Aionaaka singled to left to score Mia Monroe to put UP ahead by two.
 
The Dragons had a few chances down the stretch, but junior Ashley Mitchell shut down the Dragons the rest of the way pitching all seven innings to secure the Argos 5-3 victory over Minnesota Moorhead.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 7 for another double-header in Jamestown, N.D. UP will face Northern State at 9:00 a.m. (MST) prior to facing Valley City State at 11:00 a.m. (MST).
