GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team overpowered Mayville State defeating the Comets 78-52 Saturday night.

The Argos (15-9) scored the first four points of the game off a pair of layups from senior Ainsley Thurber and following a basket from the Comets (1-21), a layup from junior Eliannah Ramirez put UP in front 6-2.

The Comets added a bucket, but the Argos responded with an 11-0 run behind layups from freshman Layne Rogel and junior Brooke Dial to give the Argos a 17-4 lead.

Mayville State answered with an 8-2 stretch but a jumper from senior McKenna Reggear increased the Argo lead to 21-12 heading into the break.

Both teams traded baskets to begin the second quarter until ten-straight behind three-pointers from Reggear and freshman Bella Triemstra extended the lead to 41-21.

Each side went back and forth the rest of the half with a triple from Rogel giving the Argos a 44-27 edge heading into the break.

The Argos opened the second half with a 12-1 run behind layups from Thurber, Ramirez and a triple from senior Camryn Cartwright to push the lead to 28.

Mayville State added a pair of baskets to trim into the Argo lead, but UP cruised the rest of the way with a three-pointer from Reggear securing the Argos 78-52 victory over the Comets.
