DICKINSON, N.D. -- The University of Providence softball program split with Dickinson State in the Frontier Conference Opener Friday afternoon.
In game one the Blue Hawks (13-9) scored the first runs of the contest behind a three-run home run in bottom of the first, but in the top of the second the Argos (9-14) got on the board with a SAC fly from senior
Tiffany Fuentes to cut the lead to two.

The Blue Hawks answered with three runs in the bottom of the second to extend the lead to five, and despite a few late base runners for the Argos, UP came up short in game one falling to Dickinson State 6-1.
In the second game of the double-header the Argos scored the first run of the game when junior
Tehneson Ehnes hit a solo home run to center field to put UP ahead 1-0.
The Argos continued their momentum into the top of the third when junior
Erin Bishop hit a grand slam to left field to extend the UP lead to five.
UP did not go away adding another four runs in the top of the fifth behind an RBI triple from junior
Kasidy Yeoman and RBI singles from Ehnes, E. Bishop, and junior
Ella Galloway to push the Argo lead out to nine.
The Blue Hawks put a pair of runners on in the top of the fifth, but freshman
Madison Moultray finished the complete game shutout as UP won the second half of the double-header 9-0.

The Argos will be back in action tomorrow, March 21 for another double-header in Dickinson, N.D. UP will face the Blue Hawks at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
