DICKINSON, N.D. -- The University of Providence softball program split with Dickinson State to close out the Frontier Conference opening series Saturday afternoon.
In game one the Argos (10-15) pushed the first run across behind a double steal from juniors
Erin Bishop and
Kasidy Yeoman to give UP a 1-0 lead.

The Blue Hawks (14-10) answered in the bottom of the second to tie the game at one, but in the top of the third junior
Tehneson Ehnes put the ball in play to score senior
Jaden Ruiz from third to put UP in front 2-1.

Dickinson State tied the game at two in the bottom of the fourth but the Argos continued to push runs across with a double from Yeoman in the top of the fifth to score freshman
Aleana Aionaaka and give the Argos a 3-2 edge.

The Argos continued their momentum into the top of the seventh when Ehnes hit a bases clearing double over the center fielder's head for her fourth RBI of the contest and extended the UP advantage to four heading into the bottom of the seventh.

The Blue Hawks added a run and brought the go-ahead runner to the plate in the bottom of the seventh, but freshman
Madison Moultray shut down Dickinson State as she picked up her second complete game victory of the weekend.

In game two the Argos scored the first runs of the contest when Ehnes hit a SAC fly in the top of the first and junior
Alix Bishop hit a solo home run to center field to put UP ahead 2-0.

The Argos continued their avalanche of runs in the top of the third when E. Bishop hit a single to left to score Yeoman and A. Bishop followed with a three-run home run for her second bomb of the day to increase the UP lead to 6-0.

UP added a pair of runs in the top of the fourth to push the lead to nine but the Blue Hawks answered with 10 runs over the next three innings to take a 10-9 lead into the seventh.

The Argos answered with a SAC fly from Ruiz to score junior
Aspen Dawson from third to tie the game at 10, but the Blue Hawks added a run in the bottom of the seventh as UP fell in the series finale 11-10.
