GREAT FALLS, Mont. -- The University of Providence softball program defeated Mayville State University 13-8 and 11-0 Saturday afternoon.

In game one The Comets (11-26) scored the first runs of the contest putting up a three-spot in the top of the first but in the bottom half the Argos (22-19) answered with RBI singles from juniors
Tehneson Ehnes,
Alix Bishop, and
Kaily Gull to tie the game at three.

The Argos continued their momentum into the bottom of the second when junior
Kasidy Yeoman and Ehnes hit back-to-back RBI doubles to put UP ahead by two, and junior
Alix Bishop followed with a fielder's choice to give the Argos a 6-3 lead heading into the third.

UP added a pair of runs in the fourth behind a double from Ehnes, and following a three-run home run from the Comets in the top of the fifth, UP added three runs in the bottom half off a double from sophomore
Madison Moultray, a triple from freshman
Aleana Aionaaka, and a single from Ehnes to push the Argo advantage to 11-6.

Mayville State hit a two-run home run in the top of the sixth, but the Argos answered with a solo home run from Gull and a SAC fly from Aionaaka in the bottom half to secure the Argos 13-8 victory.

In game two the Argos scored the first runs in the bottom of the first when A. Bishop and senior
Tiffany Fuentes drew bases loaded walks to put UP in front 2-0.

The Argos continued to add runs in the first when Moultray hit an RBI single, Gull hit a fly ball to center, Aionaaka hit an RBI single, and Ehnes hit a two RBI single to extend the UP lead to eight.

UP added three runs in the third off a triple from Ehnes, a single from A. Bishop, and a double from Fuentes, and despite a few base runners from the Comets, junior
Ashley Mitchell threw all five innings as UP defeated Mayville State 11-0. Â
