DICKINSON, N.D. -- The University of Providence softball program defeated Valley City State 3-2 in the Frontier Conference Tournament winners bracket semifinals Friday afternoon.

The Argos (29-22) scored the first runs of the game in the bottom of the third when freshman
Aleana Aionaaka crossed home on a wild pitch to put UP in front 1-0.

UP did not go away adding another run behind a double from junior
Erin Bishop, and following a scoreless fourth inning, E. Bishop hit a SAC fly to center field in the bottom of the fifth to give the Argos a 3-0 lead.

Alix Bishop threw the first six and a third innings striking out six and allowing three hits, but a few miscues from the Argos defense in the top of the seventh brought in two Valley City runs to bring the game within one.

With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the seventh, sophomore
Madison Moultray entered with the bases loaded and on her fourth pitch forced the Vikings (26-25) to ground into a game ending 4-6-3 double-play as UP defeated Valley City State 3-2. UP will now face Dickinson State for a trip to the Frontier Conference Tournament Championship tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. (MST).

With the Argos 29
th victory of the season, they set a new program record for the most wins in single season in program history, besting the 2015 season where they achieved 28 wins.
