OAHU, Hawaii – The University of Providence women's volleyball program swept Doane University to wrap up the Paradise Volleyball Classic Saturday night.
In the first set of the contest the Argos (3-0) got out to an early 8-1 lead behind kills from senior
Cabry Badley and freshman
Brooklyn Hillman, but the Tigers (0-2) answered with four straight to bring the set within three. The Argos slowly pushed their lead out until they scored 10 of the last 11 points of the set with a pair of kills from junior
Kendall Picolet and Hillman securing the first for UP 25-10.
The second set was back-and-forth early with neither side gaining a lead by more than three until five-straight from the Argos off a pair of kills from freshman
Bree MacDonald gave UP a 21-15 edge. Doane did not go away with a 4-0 run to shorten the lead to two, but the Argos scored four of the last six points of the set behind kills from sophomore
Kya Stanley and MacDonald to secure the second for UP 25-21.
In the third set the Argos continued to roll beginning the with four blocks from Badley and three aces from sophomore
Araleigh Arnold to put UP ahead 13-0. The Argos cruised the rest of the way with a pair of kills from Badley securing the third set for UP 25-10, and the match 3-0.
Cabry Badley led the way for the Argos with eight kills and six blocks and
Brooklyn Hillman added six kills and five blocks.
The Argos will be back in action on Aug. 21-22 when they head to Butte, Mont. for the Big Sky Challenge.
