BISMARCK, N.D. – The University of Providence women's volleyball program fell to Bismarck State 3-0 Friday night.
In the first set both teams went back-and-forth with neither side taking control until a 4-1 stretch from the Mystics (4-7) put Bismarck State in front 14-11. The Argos (10-3) answered with kills from senior
Cabry Badley and junior
Kendall Picolet to tie the set at 16, and following ties at 18, 19, 20, 21, and 22, the Mystics scored the final three points of the set to take the first 25-22.
In set two neither side could gain a lead by more than two until three straight from the Mystics gave Bismarck State a 10-7 edge. The Mystics quickly pushed the advantage out to five, and despite a late kill from junior
Martyna Fiedler, Bismarck scored two of the last three points of the set to take the second 25-21.
In the third set the Argos jumped out to a 10-5 lead behind kills from Badley and freshman
Brooklyn Hillman but the Mystics slowly cut into the deficit to force a tie at 14. Both sides traded points with ties at 16, 17, 19, 20, and 22, but the Mystics scored two of the last three points of the set to secure the third set for Bismarck State 25-23, and the match 3-0.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Sept. 19 when they head to Dickinson, N.D. UP will face Dickinson State at 1:00 p.m. (MST) in the Scott Gymnasium.
