LOGAN, Utah – A road trip that pits Argo basketball against three NCAA Division I opponents in six days started with a game against Utah State University. UGF lost to the Aggies 84-51 in what was an exhibition game for the Argos, but the team saw strong performances from a few players.
 
A stark difference in shooting percentage dictated the outcome of the game, as the Aggies defense shutdown UGF's 3-point shooting and help the Argos to an overall shooting percentage of 31. In contrast, USU consistently found quality looks at the basket and converted well, shooting 60 percent from the field.
 
While UGF's defense struggled to keep the Aggies from making shots, the Argos did force their DI counterparts into 14 turnovers, 12 of which came from UGF steals.
 
Junior forward Tymarieh Dixon proved he can play against high level talent, finishing as the game's second leading scorer with 15 points. Dixon also led UGF with 6 rebounds and had a career high of 2 blocks.
 
Senior center Andrej Slavik, a DI drop down from Idaho State University, used his experience at level to play on of his best games in an Argo uniform. Slavik finished with 10 points, his first double-digit scoring effort at UGF, off an efficient 5-8 shooting. That number could have been even higher had he not gone 0-4 from the free-throw line.
 
Since the game was an exhibition the loss won't count towards the Argo's record with currently stands at 7-2 (1-1). Next for UGF will be another exhibition against an NCAA Division I foe, this time a December 8 road game against Eastern Washington University at 8 p.m. MT.
