Argos Move Up One Spot in Rankings

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball team moved up on spot in the NAIA Coaches Poll, ending up at #7.

#7 is the highest school ranking in school history for the Argos (8-0). The Argos are coming off two conference victories against Rocky Mountain College and Montana Western.

"There wasn't much room for us to move up," head coach Steve Keller said. "We're just trying to maintain what we're doing and use it as motivation to go out and play and stay near the top of the polls."

There are three schools from the Frontier Conference ranked in the top 25. Lewis and Clark State is ranked 13 while Carroll College is ranked 23rd. Montana State – Northern received votes, putting them as the top team outside the top 25 poll.

"Our conference continues to prove how good we are," Keller said. "If we were using this ranking to go to the National Tournament, we would have four teams in. That's awesome. But you have to be in the top three in your conference to go to the National Tournament and that's what we're trying to do."

The Argos arrived Thursday afternoon in Chandler, Arizona for the Cactuc Classic. They'll take the court on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Marian University, who is ranked #8 in the DII men's poll.
