GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Argo men's basketball head coach
Steve Keller announces the signing of Helena High School's, Connor Murgel.
Murgel, a 5'10 guard from Helena, Montana, was a standout four-year letterwinner at Helena High School. As a Bengal, Murgel was a three-sport athlete, competing in track, football and basketball. During his junior season, he was named Western AA Tournament First-Team and Second-Team All-Conference. During his senior year in football, Murgel was honored as Western AA Honorable Mention All-Conference at safety.
On the hardwood, Murgel became the new record-holder at Helena High for the most 3-point field goals made in school history, previously held by Davin Blixt.
During his senior year, he averaged 12.9 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals per contest. Murgel shot 42 percent from the field and 39 percent from beyond the arc during his senior campaign. He also finished second in the state in 3-point field goals made for the season. For his career, Murgel averaged nearly 10 points per game (9.8) from his freshman to his senior season.
In the classroom, Murgel will graduate this spring as a Salutatorian with a GPA of 3.98. He was also a National Honor Society member, participated in the Principal's Leadership club, in addition to helping worth with and mentor freshman at Helena High as a member of the Link Crew. At the University of Providence, Murgel is looking to study Biology.
