LOUISVILLE, Kent. – In their first dual tournament in program history, the University of Providence women's wrestling went 2-1 to qualify for the Top 8 in the National Duals in Louisville, Kentucky. 

Thought the Argos have competed in duals before, this is the first time they've competed in a dual tournament. 

"We're really happy with how they are wrestling," head coach Carlene Sluberski said. "They all showed up ready to compete. We're really happy."

In their first dual of the day, Providence defeated Missouri Valley 32-10. Seven Argos came away with victories to help secure the blowout victory.

The Argos ran into a bit of a wall in the second dual. Facing Life University, only Yurie Yoneoka and Tatum Sparks were able to come away with victories as the Argos fell 35-12.

"I know we dropped that match but almost every single one of those matches could have gone the other way," Sluberski said. "Our girls did a good job. We made a couple of mistakes that changed the outcome of some of the matches, but the girls are improving every time they step on the match."

Facing elimination, the Argos responded strong. The team started off with four straight victories and never looked back, defeating Midland 27-14.

"They were able to bounce back really well for our last dual to keep us in the next round," Sluberski said. "I'm really impressed with their effort and the level of focus going into every match. They dominated a lot of positions that we've been working on. They're getting better with each match and for a young team that's all you can ask."

The Argos will hit the mats tomorrow at 7 a.m. against Oklahoma City, who lost to Menlo 33-10. If they win that match they will compete for 5^th place and if they lose they will compete for 7^th.
