POCATELLO, Ida. – The University of Providence broke into the Top 10 in school history in four events during the opening event of the indoor track and field season at the Stacy Dragila Invitational in Pocatello, Idaho.
Austin Forson moved to second all-time in men's shot put and moved into third all time in weighted throw,
Kaylee Beer moved into 5
th all time in weighted throw and
Allyson Conner moved to 9
th all time in weighted throw.
Zebadiah Boos finished 4
th in the weighted throw with 14.18 m, while Forson finished 3
rd with 13.47 m. Boos already holds the school-record in the weighted throw.
"Zeb didn't beat his personal record but he already beat has the school record," assistant coach
Alan Cress said. "For Austin to move into third as a freshman is really impressive. I'm really happy for him."
In the women's weight throw,
Jillian Sanchez finished 6
th with 14.66 m,
Kaylee Beer finished 12
th with 13.56 m,
Allyson Conner finished 14
th with 12.4 m,
Emily Oldham finished 17
th with 9.5 m.
In the men's shot put, Forson finished 8
th with 13.38 m, while Boos finished right behind him at 9
th with 13.31 m. Boos recorded his personal record and remains third all time in the Providence record books.
On the women's side, Sanchez placed 10
th with 11.66 m, Beer with 11.47 m, Connor finished 14
th with 10.01 m and Oldham finished 17
th with 8.65 m.
"It's our first meet of the year going against primarily NCAA Division 1 teams," Cress said. "I thought we did really well to start out the season. We had some personal records and some marks right up there. It's a really good start to the year against really good competition."
The Argos will next head to Pullman, Washington on Jan. 31.
