GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's wrestling team learned a lot after competing in their first dual tournament with a full roster in program history. The Argos will hope to use what they learn when travel to Redmond, Oregon for an individual tournament. 

The Argos will send 10 athletes to compete against wrestlers from Eastern Oregon and Southern Oregon on Saturday.

The Argos are coming off their first ever experience at a dual tournament, when they finished 8^th in the National Duals this past weekend in Louisville. The tournament-style showcased many strengths, but also showed areas where the team needs to improve on.

"There's so many glimpses into the good things that happened," head coach Carlene Sluberski said. "But it also opened our eyes to what we were lacking at. We're going back and trying to simplify wrestling. Some of our girls get so overwhelmed with certain techniques and doing everything perfectly. It's really just a six-minute fight."

During practice this week, Sluberski has challenged her team to become more mentally-tough. She has increased the level of intensity at practice in hopes of emulating the environment of real matches.

"We've been focusing on getting tougher," Sluberski said. "We're trying to find the fight in them. We'll wrestle a tough opponent and they'll snap our head down and we're not used to that during practice. That's what we've been doing."

Though the practices have gotten more demanding, the team has responded well, Sluberski said.

"They've been stepping up," she said. "A big thing is I don't want them to tell me what they're about, I want them to show me. You can tell somebody for so long but it's a long season. It's really up to them on how they want to respond and if they want to step up. We only have eight weeks left so I'm confident they'll respond for the rest of the year."

Most of the ten wrestlers that are traveling to Oregon this weekend haven't competed much for the Argos this season. Nevertheless, the team has one goal in Oregon: execute.

"I really want to see our girls go out and execute," Sluberski said. "I want to see them work through positions, go out and be more physical, get a little mean. We want people to step up and be a little aggressive."
