MENLO, Calif. – Six wrestlers from the University of Providence men's wrestling team qualified for the NAIA Championships during the Cascade Conference Collegiate Tournament on Saturday.
TJ Baun (141 lbs.),
Shonn Roberts (149 lbs.),
Jordan Komac (165 lbs.),
Hayden Schrull (184 lbs.),
John Hensley (197 lbs.) and
Justin Harbison (285 lbs.) all placed and will be heading to Nationals. Roberts, Komac and Harbison all won their respective weight classes. Hensley finished second, Baun finished 3
rd, and Schrull finished 5
th.
"Those kids performed very well in their respective weight classes," interim head coach
Steve Komac said. "Putting four kids in the finals is excellent and having three championships is just awesome. I'm really proud of those guys."
Shonn Roberts went 4-0 on the weekend to win the 141 lb. weight class. The #3 nationally ranked wrestler defeated Jared Brant (Eastern Oregon), Juan Lopez III (Vanguard), Zachary Sias (Warner Pacific), before taking down #11 Devin Everk (Menlo) in the championship via major decision.

Jordan Komac, the 11
th ranked wrestler in the nation for the 165 lb. weight class, defeated two ranked opponents to win his conference weight class. In the semifinals, he took on #18 Nakoda Siegel (Montana St. – Northern) before defeating #20 Taylor Owens in overtime.
"Jordan had a great day," Komac said. "He had a tough semifinals match and won a tough overtime dual. Both his opponents were really solid and it brought out the best in him. He was clutch during some very tough moments."
Justin Harbison, the 6
th nationally ranked wrestler at 285 lbs., pinned his way through his entire tournament.
"He's wrestling really really well," Komac said. "His performance this weekend was just incredible."
Komac was also proud of the way
John Hensley (197 lbs.) wrestled. He lost 3-2 in the championship to #2 Isaac Bartel (Montana State – Northern).
"John competed extremely well," Komac said. "That's exciting to see this time of year."
The six Argos will head to Wichita, Kansas to compete in the NAIA Nationals Championships. The two-day event begins March 6.
