GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The #9 University of Providence men's wrestling teams will have their last dual of the home season on Friday night at 7 p.m. against #14 Embry-Riddle. The night will serve as senior night for ten student-athletes, with senior night festivities beginning at 6:45 p.m.
Interim head coach
Steve Komac credits the senior class for making the coaching transition easier on everyone, which allowed the team to have the successful season they're having.
"The senior class has been extraordinary," he said. "The challenges of coming in at the time I did, not having real close personal relationships with some of the kids, the challenges are there for everyone. Sometimes your older kids, your leaders in the room, can be your savior or your worst nightmare. They've absolutely been my savior. They've been 100% on board all season. They are wrestling for the right reasons and are going to school here for the right reasons. That made the transitions in here so much easier. They've been very helpful and supportive along the way."
Komac will lean on his seniors to lead his team past a stout Embry-Riddle team. The Argos have ran into several of their wrestlers at open tournaments over the entire season and nearly all of them have been close.
"They are a very good team," Komac said. "I expect that to be one of those tightly contested duals. There's going to be a lot of real tight matches Friday night. This has pretty serious implications as we prepare for the conference tournament. It should be a fun evening."
