GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The #10 University of Providence men's basketball team suffered their first loss of the season to Montana State-Northern Saturday night, falling 96-85.
"We played our butts off," head coach
Steve Keller said. "We played with a lot of heart. They made a lot of shots."
The Lights were red-hot from the field shooting 60.3% from the field, including 14/24 from beyond the arc. David Garris and Mascio McCadney led the way with 26 points for the Lights (6-4, 5-4).
The Argos (6-1, 6-1) had four players in double-figures, led by
Marcus Stephens, who finished with 22 points, eight rebounds and three assists.
Dawson Fowler added 19 points, four rebounds, three assists and his usual contagious defensive energy.
Cap Uzan chipped in 17 points and David Harris-Williams added 12.
Jake Olsen recorded 10 rebounds for the Argos.
"85 is enough to win," Keller said. "We just didn't guard the whole night, the first half or the second half. Give them credit they made a lot of shots and a lot of tough shots. We'll be ready to go tomorrow."
The will get their chance at revenge tomorrow, with a tip-off taking place at 2 p.m.
