GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball team fell to the Seattle Mountaineers, a semi-pro team, 98-96 in an exhibition match Friday night in the McLaughlin Center.

The Argos (2-0) were down 96-93 with eleven seconds left when Marcus Stephens hit a big-time three-pointer to tie the game. On the ensuing inbound, Colby Jackson was fouled and hit both free throws on the other end. Stephens took another shot with five seconds left but couldn't convert. He got his own rebound and dished it to Rashee Stocks, who missed a shot at the buzzer that would have tied it up.

"We missed a shot there at the end and it would have gone to overtime," head coach Steve Keller said. "We played fine. We scored 96 points. You have to be able to win if you score 96. They're good. You can tell they're ex-college players."

Stephens recorded his second career double-double, notching 28 points and 10 assists. Stocks added 19 points and seven rebounds while Jake Olsen recorded 18 points and eight rebounds. Emmett Linton III added 13 points for the team.

The Argos shot 46.8% from the field during that game and 30% from beyond the arc. The Mountaineers (4-3) outrebounds the team 43-36, including 13 offensive rebounds which led to 16 second-chance points.

"They're big and athletic and we didn't block out," Keller said. "They had 16 second chance points. When they missed, we didn't get the long rebound and that hurt us all night."

The Argos will get another shot at the Mountaineers tomorrow, when the two teams tip off at 6:00 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center.
