GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball will return to action Wednesday afternoon with a 4:00 p.m. game against Dickinson State in Billings, Mont.
The team will return to action after a short holiday break. Prior to the break, the team finished 2-1 at the Cactus Classic in Phoenix, Ariz, falling to Antelope Valley in the first game before defeating Benedictine-Mesa and Embry-Riddle.
"I think everyone is in the same situation with the break," head coach
Steve Keller said. "With a little time off we might be a little rusty. We had a practice today to help with that. Hopefully we'll be in a pretty good shape."
Though the Blue Hawks (0-11, 0-1) are winless on the year, the team is still a formidable foe. They have played seven games against Frontier Conference opponents, with three of those games being single-digit losses.
"They got some athletes," Keller said. "They haven't won a game yet but they've been in a lot of games. They lost to Montana Tech in overtime. They're very well-coached. They're going to be hungry to get in the win column. They're going to be a very tough game."
The Blue Hawks will have to have a plan for the Argos as well, who have been extremely efficient offensively. The squad is currently 14
th in the nation in points per game at 87.4 points. The team is extremely gifted at getting to the free-throw line, ranking 4
th in the nation in free throws per game (17.4) and 9
th in the nation in attempts (23.6). The team is led by junior
Marcus Stephens, who is averaging 21.3 points per game and was
named the Frontier Conference Player of the Week for the third time on the season last week.
"We have to execute our stuff," Keller said. "I want to be a little more patient than we have been in the past. Sometimes we shoot too quick and take bad shots and we want to clean that up a little bit."
