GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence softball team fell to College of Idaho in their first series of their weekend double header.
The Argos (0-6, 0-5) lost the first game 7-1 before falling to the Yotes (13-7, 5-0) in the second game 9-1.
"I thought we prepared well all week," head coach
Joey Egan said. "We just have to flip our mindset on how to raise the level of play and raise the bar. We have to compete to win and not to compete to stick with a team."
The Yotes outhit the Argos 17-11 between the two games. The Argos committed four errors, all in the second game, compared to the Yotes three throughout the two games.
"We need to be mentally tougher," Egan said. "I wish we had more games in because the lack of games is evident. We're at two different speeds right now."
Despite the lopsided score, the Argos did show major improvement. The Argos competed with the Yotes for most of the game, minus an inning or two where the Yotes scored multiple runs.
"They are playing pretty well and we're still making silly mistakes," Egan said. "If we can clean those up and come ready to win instead of just ready to finally play, that would be a big adjustment."
The two teams will conclude their series tomorrow with a pair of games at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.
