Argos Sweep Conference Player of the Week Awards for Second Straight Week

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – For the second week in a row and third time this season, the University of Providence swept the three weekly Frontier Conference Player of the Week Awards.

Cydney Finberg-Roberts was named Setter of the Week, Sacha Legros was named Defender of the Week and Sadie Lott was named Attacker of the Week. The three were all named Players of the Week on February 8, while last week Isaura Santos joined Finberg-Roberts and Legros as the Player of the Week award winners.

"The awesome part is it's the kids," head coach Arunas Duda said. "They're getting the recognition because they're playing so well. It has nothing to do with me. They're putting themselves in great positions and earning the awards every week. I couldn't be happier for them."

The recent Setter of the Week award marks the sixth time Finberg-Roberts has received the award this season; there's only been one week she hasn't received it. This past weekend, she recorded over 50 assists both nights. She was also a factor defensively, notching 21 digs and four blocks. On Saturday's win, Finberg-Roberts reached 2,000 assists for her career.

"She just really getting the job done," Duda said. "Especially down the stretch with Rocky, she set the right hitters at the right time and really elevated us to winning a couple of those close sets. She's playing good defense as well and serving tough and getting some good block touches as well. She just keeps improving her game."

This is the third time that Legros has been named the Defender of the Week this season. The Battlin' Bears had a strategy of hitting away from her every chance they could, but she still made an impact, recording 27 digs on Friday and 23 digs on Saturday. She also had a personal milestone, recording her 1,000th dig as an Argo during Friday's victory.

"She's been doing a really good job of still getting involved even though teams are starting to hit away from her," Duda said. "She's covering balls, she's picking up free balls and down balls, telling our hitters where to hit and being effective in serve receive. She's not one that's going to sit idly by and let the game come to her when it does. She's going to make plays happen. She did that all weekend for us."

This is also the third time that Lott has been named the Attacker of the Week. The coaching staff was impressed how the freshman rose to the occasion during a critical road trip for the team. Lott recorded 17 kills both nights, including a .435 hitting percentage on Friday.

"She is very versatile," Duda said. "She hit the ball on the outside for us, from the middle, hitting slides on the right side. She does a great job of making herself available to be a hitter. She's a smart player that sees the court really well. She had a nice consistent weekend for us."

After jumping Rocky Mountain for the top-seed in the Frontier Conference regular season, the Argos (12-2, 12-2) will travel to Montana Tech for a weekend double-header. They will take on the Orediggers (6-7, 6-8) on Friday at 7 p.m. and on Saturday at 1 p.m.
