WHITEFISH, Mont. – For the second straight week, University of Providence women's basketball player
Emilee Maldonado has been named the Erck Hotels Frontier Conference Player of the Week.
The senior point guard from Sunnyside, Wash. continued her hot streak this past week, recording 19 points, seven assists and four rebounds
in a win over MSU-Northern on Thursday and recording 26 points, four steals and three assists
in a win over #25 Montana Western on Saturday.
"It's well-deserved," head coach
Bill Himmelberg said. "I thought that she did a good job. She controlled both games this weekend. It's the second week in a row we've gotten a win over a ranked team. She's playing at such a high-level right now."
Maldonado, who
received the honor last week as well, has been a big part of the team's current 11-game winning streak, with five of those wins coming against ranked opponents.
"She's a floor general out there," Himmelberg said. "She leads and takes care of the ball. She can get us a basket whenever we need one, an assist when ever we need one. She does everything right. There's a reason she's a
1st Team All-American. She plays like one all the time."
Maldonado and the Argos will host Montana Tech this Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center.
