WHITEFISH, Mont. - The Frontier Conference announced its volleyball All-Conference team Sunday with four University of Providence players making the list.
Jenna Thorne was named to the First Team after another tremendous season in which she tallied more than 300 kills, averaging 2.75 per set. The junior outside hitter from Karitane, New Zealand also had more than 300 digs with an average of 2.75 per set as well.
Junior middle blocker Zoe Naugle was named to the Second Team after putting up 215 kills and 138 blocks. The Castle Rock, Wash. native, had multiple matches of more than 10 blocks.
Bella Thompson and Ryann Eddins were named to the Frontier's All-Freshman team. Eddins, an outside hitter from Bozeman, had 104 kills and 33 blocks in her first season. Thompson, a setter from Kapahulu, Hawaii stepped into a significant role and tallied more than 900 assists, 280 digs and 47 blocks on the year.
"Very excited for these young ladies," said Head Coach Arunas Duda. "It was not an easy season for us, but with all of these girls returning next year, our future looks bright. I am happy that their hard work was recognized by the conference."
In addition, senior Bailey Christensen of Belgrade was named the University of Providence Champion of Character.
The Argos finished 10-20 overall, 2-8 during the regular season but upset 4-seed MSU-Northern in the first round of the Frontier Conference Tournament, and nearly upset second seed and tournament champions Rocky Mountain College, losing in a thrilling five-setter in the semifinals.
