Powell, Wyo. - The University of Providence men's wrestling team opened its season Saturday with four first place finishes, two seconds, four thirds, and six fourths at the Northwest Wyoming College Open in Powell, Wyoming.

decisioned Western Wyoming's Cody Phelps 6-5 in the final. Aden Graves was a champion at 157, beating Jayden Luttrell of Western Wyoming with a pin in 2:17. At 184, Sawyer Hobbs earned a major decision over Jaden Stange of Western Wyoming 9-1. Returning All-American
KC Buday opened his season with a 2-1 decision over Northwest's Cody Pinkerton at 285.

Also at 285, Ethan DeRoche won the consolation final with a 6-1 win over Talmage Carman from Western Wyoming. Liam Swanson was 2
nd at 197 with Jacob Anderson taking fourth. The 184-pound weight class was all Argos. In addition to Hobbs's win, Alan Badley beat teammate Hayden Schrull by decision 9-3. Blaze Sumiye claimed fourth at 174, Bridger Hall 2
nd at 165, Dougie Swanson was 4
th at 157, Jaden Vladic took 3
rd at 149. At 141, Dante Reviglio outpointed fellow Argo Caleb Birdwell 3-2, and at 125,
Deven Altenburg-Lasher was 4
th.

Overall, a good start to the season says Head Coach
Steve Komac, "We saw a lot of good things today from our kids and overall, it was
a very good day of wrestling.
"We got championship efforts from some veterans and some young guys. Avila, Graves, Hobbs and Buday all came away with 1st place finishes
. We were 4 for 4 in the finals today, with 8 guys overall in the top 3.
We'll rest up a little and get back to work for our dual this Wednesday."

Providence will host MSU-Northern in a battle of preseason top 20 teams. The Lights are ranked 18
th while the Argos are 15
