CORVALLIS, Ore. – The University of Providence men's wrestling team has been picked to finish first in the Cascade Collegiate Conference Preseason poll.

The Argos finished the 2023-2024 season as the #4 ranked team in the NAIA and placed second at the conference championships to #3 Menlo. UP is yet to win a conference championship in program history.

Head coach Steve Komac on his upcoming season stated, "It is always great to get recognized. The Cascade Collegiate Conference is one of the toughest conferences in the country and it is a great honor to try and be one of the best teams and compete for a conference championship. There are a lot of great kids in our conference and coaches keep bringing in great athletes, so we know it's going to be a battle and we are expecting a battle throughout the entire season. We upped our schedule a little bit this year so we will get a good opportunity to compete in La Grande to start our season. Overall, I am very proud of the guys, very proud of the buy-in and the effort that we are getting out of them so far this year."

The 2024-2025 University of Providence team has many impactful returners including three returning All-Americans and nine national qualifiers. Junior Abel Nava Jr. placed third at the NAIA National Championship last season and both juniors Bridger Hall and Sawyer Hobbs earned All-American status in the 2022-2023 season.

The Argos will begin their season with a trip to La Grande, Ore. where they will dual the Mountaineers on Nov. 2 and will wrestle at the Mountaineer Open on Nov. 3.
