JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Providence women's wrestling program placed seventh as a team and secured five All-Americans at the NAIA National Championship this weekend.

Head coach Matt Atwood on his team's performance stated, "I'm extremely proud of this team and the work they put in this season! Anyone outside of the sport can't comprehend what goes into the preparation for this event. The constant day in and day out grind never stops for these women. From two-hour practices in the heat, to diet, to strength training, to extra conditioning workouts, to the constant mental battles. Wrestling never leaves these women's minds. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes life isn't fair, but that is what's so addicting about this sport! I love this team, I love these women, and I can't wait to get back to work."

Sophomore Erin Hikiji, freshman Paige Morales, freshman Alyssa Randles, junior Waipuilani Estrella-Beauchamp, and junior Sadie Antoque all were named All-Americans.

Hikiji was the runner-up at 101 after finishing the tournament 4-1. Hikiji opened the tournament by pinning Taya Garner in 27 seconds and then defeated Karina Van and Riley Banyas 10-0 before pinning Esther Walker in the semifinals.
