Four Argos Break School Records at Argo Open

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence track and field teams competed at the Argo Open at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls, Mont. throughout the day Thursday.  

Tatiana Martinez, Allyson Conner, Gabbie Parini, and Joe McMillan all broke school records on Thursday. Martinez and Conner also qualified for the NAIA National Championships with their performances at the Argo Open.  

Martinez was the first to qualify on Thursday throwing a 46.26m Discus that placed first and broke her previous record of 45.15m from 2022. That distance achieved her an A standard qualification for the NAIA National Championships on May 22-24.

Conner also qualified on Thursday throwing a 43.23m discus that placed second and qualified her at B standard for the NAIA National Championships. Conner also broke her own school record in the hammer throw with 53.27m that qualified her at A standard for the NAIA National Championships.

McMillan broke his own record in the Pole Vault with 4.20m and Parini surpassed Danielle Keatings record of 13.01 from 2010, finishing her 100M in 12.92.

The Argos finished the day with 11 first place finishers with Parini in the 100M and the Long Jump, Conner in the Shot Put and Hammer, Martinez in the Discus, McKenzie Clark in Javelin, Evan Major in the 100M, Travis Zavala in the Shot Put and Discus, Adam Cearley in the Hammer, and Josey Hinderager in the Javelin.  

The Argos will be back in action April 11 for the Trudnowski Open. Athletes will be competing throughout the day in Helena, Mont.
