Six Argos Earn AVCA All-Region Honors

LEXINGTON, Kent. – The University of Providence volleyball program had six members earn American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Region honors on Friday. Seniors Bella Thompson, Sadie Giles, Bella Green, junior Cabry Taylor, and head coach Arunas Duda and assistant coach Sacha Simmons were recognized for their historic 2025 seasons. 

Head coach Arunas Duda on the all-region honors stated, "This group has made this season truly unforgettable. They committed to the process from the very beginning, investing in each other and embracing every challenge. Their chemistry and genuine care for one another have been the backbone of our success. I'm incredibly proud of what they've earned and even more excited for where they're headed."

For the second consecutive season, Thompson was named the AVCA North Regional Player of the Year following earning the Frontier Conference Player of the Year, Frontier Conference Setter of the Year, and first team all-conference. Bella was the Frontier Conference setter of the week seven times this season and is #2 in the NAIA in assists per set with 11.53. Bella also set a new program record for the most career assists with over 4000 and counting.

Giles was named First Team All-Region for the third time in her career following her fourth career Frontier Conference First Team selection. Sadie is fourth on the team in kills, second in digs, and fourth in blocks while playing all six spots. Earlier this season Giles became the second player in program history to record 1000 career kills and 1000 career digs.

Taylor was named First Team All-Region following her honorable-mention selection last season. Taylor earned her second career first team All-Conference selection in 2025 after leading the Frontier Conference in blocks per set with 1.27. Cabry is also third on the team in kills averaging 2.32 per set while hitting .319.

Green was named Honorable Mention All-Region for the first time in her career after leading the Argos in kills with 301 while averaging 3.51 kills pet set and hitting .238.

Sacha Simmons was named the AVCA North Region Assistant Coach of the Year for the second straight season following her third Frontier Conference Assistant Coach of the Year nod for the third time in the last four seasons. Simmons stated, "I'm extremely honored. Competing in a region with such strong coaches and teams makes this recognition even more special. I'm thankful for Coach Duda's leadership and mentorship—he's shaped so much of who I am as a coach. And our girls have been unbelievable all season; their commitment and passion set the tone every single day. We've done something special, and we're not finished yet."

Head Coach Arunas Duda was named the AVCA North Region Coach of the Year Frontier after leading the team to a #1 NAIA Ranking, a second straight Frontier Conference regular season title and tournament title, and their second straight trip to the Final Site of the NAIA National Tournament. Duda is the program leader in wins and was inducted into the Argo Athletics Hall of Fame in October of 2024. Duda stated, "It's an incredible honor, particularly in a region filled with so many strong teams and coaches. Any recognition like this truly belongs to our players and staff. Their dedication, discipline, and heart have carried us all season. I feel fortunate to work with such a special group every day and couldn't be prouder of what we've built."

The Argos are back in action tonight at 7:30 p.m. (MST) when they face #3 Concordia University (Neb.) in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament.
