Five Argos Place First at Providence Open

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence track and field teams competed at Providence Open throughout the day Thursday.

The Argos had a few highlights in freshman Lauren Cima in setting a new program in the shot put with a throw of 14.07m. Junior Travis Zavala also set a new program record in the shot-put placing first with a throw of 16.31m. Both have qualified at B Standard for the NAIA National Championships.

UP had three other athletes place first in Kelsey Stensland-Plymale in the 1500M and the 800M, Tatiana Martinez in the discus, and Havyn Vandenacre in the 400M hurdles. Lauren Cima placed first in both the Shot Put and the Hammer Throw.

The Argos will be back in action April 17-18 when they head to Helena, Mont. for the Trudnowski Open. Athletes will be competing throughout the day at East Helena High School.
