MARION, IND. – The University of Providence outdoor track and field program had three athletes compete at the NAIA National Championships at Wildcat Stadium on Friday.
The highlight for the Argos was senior
Tatiana Martinez who earned her third career All-American status in the Discus. After placing third as a freshman and sixth as a junior, Martinez finished eighth as a senior with a throw of 44.17m.
Martinez finishes her career as one of the most decorated athletes in program history as a she is the only three-time All-American in the same event.
Assistant Track & Field Coach Alan Cress on Martinez's performance stated, "Coming off some recent injury, Tatiana showed her grit and experience on the big stage today to battle for her third All-American performance in the discus. Really proud of her four years at the National Championship and being able to become the first in program history to earn three All-American awards in the same event."
The Argos also had junior
Travis Zavala compete in the shot-put placing 23
rd and freshman
Lauren Cima placed 21
st in the Discus.
