GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's hockey program fell to the University of Colorado 3-2 Saturday night.
The Buffaloes (4-1) scored the first goal of the game just over two minutes in, and despite constant pressure from the Argos (2-1), Colorado added a goal with two minutes remaining in the period as UP went into the break trailing 2-0.
Colorado extended their lead to three with 12 and a half minutes remaining in the second period, but moments later the Argos answered when a wrist shot from freshman
Kai Biggin bounced off the goalkeeper to senior
AJ Belanger who chipped it into the back of the net.
Both teams had opportunities the rest of the period but neither side could add a goal as UP went into the break trailing 3-1.
In the third period the Argos scored 12 seconds in when senior
Adam Husli found freshman
Devante Pratt-Fry on a two-on-one break and his one-timer found the back of the net to bring UP within one.
The Argos continued to pressure the rest of the period and despite great chances from seniors
Fabian Vik and
Chavez Constant, UP could not find the equalizer as the Argos fell to Colorado 3-2.
The Argos will be back in action on Thursday, Oct. 1 when they head to Ogden, Utah for a matchup against Weber State.
