PREVIEW: Lady Argo Softball Hopes to Finish First Series of the Season

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - In hopes that the weather stays clear for the University of Providence softball team to finally finish a four-game series, the Lady Argos head to Krikland, Washington to face Northwest University. Games have already been moved to a turf field in Redmond, Washington due to expected heavy rain.

After taking their four-game home series to Missoula, Montana because of weather permitting UP to use their home field last weekend, heavy snow fall over night on Saturday postponed the last two games of the series to be played.

In 2017, UP went 3-1 against Northwest University. The Lady Argos pulled a 7-4 win against the Eagles in both Game 1 and Game 2 of the four-game series. Both teams split in the last two games of the series by the 8-run mercy rule (Game 3: 14-5 NU, Game 4: 11-3 UP).

Games will be played in Redmond, Washington at Harman Park starting on Friday, March 23 at 10 a.m. & 12 p.m and on Saturday, March 24 at 11 a.m. & 1 p.m.

Quick Notes
  • Although the team is not a statistical leader in the CCC, two Lady Argos still stay in the CCC Individual Top 5 Leaders. Even after being out due to injury in last weeks doubleheader against EOU, Bailey Henderson (SR/Fernley, Nev.) continues to lead the conference with a batting average of 5.14.
  • Karlie Southworth (SO/Lewiston, Mont.) holds third in the conference with an average of .469. Southworth has been a consistent force at the plate for the Lady Argo's offensive. She hit her second homer of the season and went 3-4 with 2 runs and 1 RBI against EOU.
  • Kristina George (SR/Salt Lake City, Utah) had 2 strikeouts and only allowed 4 hits and 4 runs in the complete game against EOU. George still leads UP with the lowest ERA (4.75) and a record of 2-4.
