Great Falls, Mont. - After a disappointing loss against Corban University on Friday, the University of Providence men's soccer team bounced back with a 3-0 win over Northwest Christian.
George Holloway put the Argos on the board first with an easy header off the beautiful pass from
Alain Murhula in the 30th minute. Though they had a bunch of chances, the Argos took only a 1-0 lead to the half. In the second half, afer an own goal in the 65th minute. Murhula found Holloway again for the second time in the 79th minute to finalize the 3-0 score.
"We did what we needed to do today," head coach
Matt Ball said. "They responded well. It would have been easy for us to come out flat to begin with."
The Argos controlled the pace for the majority of the game, and the ball was on their side of the field most of the game. The Argos attempted 28 shots, compared to the Beacons seven.
"We controlled 90 minutes of the game," Ball said. "At no point was I concerned that they were going to score."
The game also highlighted the connection of the Argo attackers: Holloway, Murhula and Leo Almedia. Murhula found Holloway for two goals, and the trio had several attacks that led to shots on goal.
"All year we've been trying to get the best out of our front three and they're starting to click," Ball said. "All three of them had their chances this game and should have scored more than they did. They have the potential to be very good and very dangerous if they start connecting on the same wavelength."
The Argos will hit the road this week traveling to Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
