GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence softball program has announced to flip their season opening series against the College of Idaho from a home to an away series and travel to Caldwell, Idaho due to persistent snow in the Great Falls area.
The games on Friday, March 1 will be played at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. MST, while the games on Sunday, March 2 will be at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. at Symms Field.
The 2019 Argo softball team adds a lot of new faces for the upcoming season.
Offensively,
Karlie Southworth and
Hanna Tarum return for the Argos. Both sluggers surpassed the 30-hit mark during the 2018 season, in addition to racking up double-digit runs scored. The Argos also added a stellar transfer from Salt Lake City Community College in
Ashlee Anderson.
On the mound, the Argos will be led by juniors
Hannah VanDomelen and Brie Clifford. During her 2017 season, VanDomelen played in 17 games and pitched 77 innings at Clackamas Community College. She held a 3.00 earned run average, only allowing 33 earned runs during that stretch for the Cougars. VanDomelen also received Southern Region Pitcher of the Year accolades during her tenure as a Cougar.
