WHITEFISH, Mont. – Being a huge component in the Argos phenomenal weekend as they knocked off the No. 2 Carroll College Saints and the No. 22 Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears, University of Providence's
Austin Starr was named Frontier Conference Player of the Week, announced by the conference office on Monday.
Starr was on fire on Saturday against the Battlin' Bears, going 5-for-9 from the field and 4-of-7 from three, and tallying 15 points and collected five boards, two assists, and two steals in the win. Against the Saints, Starr netted 15 points while also grabbing five boards and collecting three assists. He was nearly perfect from the line, going 7-of-8 over the two contests.
Starr ranks 11
th in the nation in made 3-point field goals with 67 on the season, while also ranking within the top-20 at 19
th in 3-point field goals made per game, averaging 2.91. He leads the Frontier in both categories. He also ranks fifth in the Frontier in free throw percentage on the season, knocking down 82 percent of his shots from the line.
The honor marks his first and second on the season for the Argos.
The Argos head to Havre, Montana on Wednesday, February 6 for a midweek matchup against the MSU-Northern Lights (14-10, 6-6 Frontier) at 8 p.m., before returning to the McLaughlin Center to host the Montana Tech Orediggers (15-9, 5-7 Frontier) on Saturday, February 9. Tip-off against the Orediggers is set for 8 p.m.
