Two School Records Fell and an A-Qualifying Mark Highlight Argos Weekend at Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bears Open

BILLINGS, Mont. – The Argos had a phenomenal day in Billings as two school records fell and the Argos claimed two first-place finishes at the Yellowjacket/Battlin' Bear Open on Saturday.
 
Zebadiah Boos, Jillian Sanchez, James Gerber, and Shana Cosby highlighted an incredible weekend of field events for the Argos.
 
Boos claimed first in the men's hammer and demolishing the school record with an incredible 48.47-meter mark, which was exactly two meters farther than second place. He also claimed fifth in the men's discus with a 42.96-meter mark.
 
Jillian Sanchez also broke a school record on Saturday as she claimed second in the women's discus with a mark of 41.82 meters on her second to last throw of the meet. She also finished sixth in the women's shot put with a distance of 11.45 meters. Sanchez's final even was the hammer throw, claiming 15th with a distance of 25.09 meters.
 
James Gerber had a phenomenal weekend as well, claiming second in the javelin, narrowly missing a personal best with a huge 52.18-meter toss. He also placed 11th in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.19 meters.
 
Shana Cosby took first in the women's javelin, setting an A-qualifying mark with an incredible 41.40-meter throw, surpassing the competition by a huge 4.73 meters as second-place finished with a 36.67-meter toss.
 
In the men's track events, Peyton Jones had the Argos best performance as he finished 11th in the 1,500-meter finals with a time of 4:21.56. Sage Wanner was the other Argo in the field, finishing 17th and clocking 4:28.63.
 
Brenden Thompson competed in the 800-meter finals, earning a 13th place finish with a time of 2:22.36.
 
Closing out the track events for the Argos men's field was Conor McGee who claimed 14th in the men's 5,000-meter finals as he crossed in 16:52.30.
 
On the women's side, Kita Weingart kicked things off for the Argos with a 10th-place finish in the women's 800-meter finals, crossing after 2:48.84.
 
In the women's 5,000-meter finals, Baylee Green finished 12th for the Argos with a time of 22:39.63.
 
Jordan Young claimed 24th in the women's 1,500-meter finals with a time of 6:01.23, while teammate Makayla Cook came in 26th with a finish of 6:17.02.
 
The Argos women's relay team claimed an eighth-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay, comprised of Kita Weingart, Baylee Green, and Makayla Cook. They finished with a time of 5:01.92.
 
Kristen Nash claimed a ninth-place finish in the women's hammer with a toss of 34.81 meters, in addition to claiming 13th in the discus with a toss of 33.43 meters and tying for 14th in the shot put, throwing for 9.89 meters.
