SPOKANE, Wash. – Multiple personal records, including ones from
Jillian Sanchez and
Peyton Jones highlighted Argo track and field's weekend as they competed in the War XII meet in Spokane, Washington over the weekend.
On the women's side, Sanchez led the Argos' performances as she set a new personal best in the hammer throw.
Sanchez's personal best pushed her to a 9
th-place finish in the hammer throw, tossing for 42.52 meters (139' 6") on her opening throw.
Jillian Sanchez also claimed a 5
th-place finish in the discus, earning a 40.30-meter (132' 3") performance with her second throw of the day.
In addition to Sanchez's performance,
Shana Cosby earned 15
th in the javelin for Providence as she threw for 36.69 meters (119' 9") on her second attempt.
In the 800-meter finals,
Kita Weingart paced the Argos to claim a 35
th-place finish with a time of 2:42.76. Teammate
Jordan Young came in 39
th, finishing with a time of 2:49.87.
Christina Eike competed in the 1500-meter finals for Providence, crossing 37
th with a clocked time of 5:45.25.
On the men's side, Jones set a new personal best in the 5,000 meters, finishing in the top-10 within a very competitive field including NCAA Division I opponents.
In the men's 5,000-meter finals, Jones earned a 10
th-place finish, following a time of 15:28.55. Teammate
Conor McGee also competed for the Argos, turning in a time of 16:21.66 to claim 25
th.
Brenden Thompson finished in 49
th place in the 800-meter finals after crossing in 2:18.84.
Teammates Jones and
Sage Wanner competed in the 1500-meter finals. Peyton led the Argos with a 39
th-place finish with a time of 4:19.25, while Wanner finished closely behind in 41
st place with a time of 4:22.23.
In the field events,
Zebadiah Boos claimed an 18
th-place finish and a 19
th-place finish in the hammer throw and the discus, respectively. His mark in the hammer was 41.98 meters (137' 9"), and in the discus his mark was 40.03 meters (131' 4").
James Gerber competed for the Argos in the javelin and the long jump. Gerber claimed a 15
th-place finish in the javelin with a 46.71-meter performance, while also placing 26
th in the long jump with a distance of 5.45 meters (17' 10.75"). Both marks were earned on his final attempt.
