GREAT FALLS, Mont. – After spending her freshman and sophomore years at Clackamas Community College, senior
Kylie Gonzales made the decision to come to the University of Providence to continue her athletic and academic careers.
Gonzales began her career at the University of Providence as a softball student-athlete. During her junior season, she led the Argos in RBIs and hits with 43 each, in addition to leading the Argos in RBIs as a senior with 22.
Following her senior season, Kylie continued her education at the University of Providence, but wanted to continue her athletic career as well and decided to join the Providence Rodeo Team.
Gonzales mentioned that the highlight of her season with the rodeo program was being able to avoid knocking down all three barrels during a rodeo competition.
As most student-athletes would agree, Gonzales revealed that her greatest academic accomplishment was balancing her athletic commitments, in addition to maintaining her grades while on the road.
"Being a student on the road can be difficult, especially in rodeo when you are on the road for an entire month in the fall and spring semesters," expressed Gonzales. "However, with enough determination you can achieve both your athletic aspirations and maintain your academic success."
Following this Saturday's graduation, Gonzales is preparing for what's next and is looking forward to her future, post-athletics. Gonzales plans to pursue her master's degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
"I'll miss being able to avoid becoming an adult and the friends and relationships that I've created at the University of Providence that will last a lifetime."
Our Argo seniors will be recognized at the Big Sky Regional Finals Rodeo on Friday, May 3 at the Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls, Montana. Tickets are available from the Four Seasons Arena box office.
