Argos Dominate Big Sky Challenge
Butte, MONT – The University of Providence Volleyball team went undefeated in the Big Sky Challenge, winning their final two matches on Saturday, including a thrilling game vs. Northwest in the morning.
Northwest stormed out to a 27-25 victory, but Providence rallied back to take the next set 26-24. Northwest responded by taking the 3rd game 25-21, but the Argos responded again, claiming the 4th set 25-14. The Argos took command in the 5th set, winning 15-11 on a game-winning kill from Averi Dyer.
"it was Awesome, I was a libero last year, but this year I've been moved to outside hitter, I was super pumped to get that kill for my team it was super great"
Kelsey Shaver led the Argos with 20 kills, with Ranae Davis and Tyna Williams contributing 15. Sacha Legros led the team with 32 digs.
In the final match of the tournament, the Argos defeated Evergreen 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-23). Shaver led the team with 20 kills. Cydney Finberg-Roberts had 18 assists, and Renae Davis had 15. Legros led the team with 18 digs, while Dyer added 17.
When head coach Arunas Duda was asked about what his team did well this weekend he said, "nice to see the hard work in the gym is making it's way on to the courts, we've been working a lot on defense transition," he was quick to say, "we have a few things to work on but It's coming around"
The Argos will return to action in the College of Idaho Labor Day Challenge with a match at Hope International University at 1 p.m. on August 30.
