GREAT FALLS, Mont. – March Madness has arrived for the University of Providence men's basketball team.
The 10th ranked Argos will begin the postseason with a game against Montana Western in the first round of the Frontier Conference Men's Basketball Tournament on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in the McLaughlin Center in Great Falls.
The Argos (23-7, 11-7) are the 3
rd seed in the Frontier Conference, and have defeated #6 Montana Western (11-18, 4-14) three times already this season. However head coach
Steve Keller says that's no reason to take the Bulldogs lightly.
"It's a new season starting tomorrow," he said. "This time of the year, all of our stuff is in. We've done everything against everybody three times. We have to show up and be ready to compete."
Keller believes the Argos have as good as shot as anybody to make a run in the postseason. The Argos lead the conference in scoring offense (89.6), field goal percentage (50.5%) and in assists per game (19.1).
"We just have to make sure we're rested and ready to go," Keller said. "We just have to play. We've done it all year. We have to be prepared to get stops at crucial times. We have to execute down the stretch."
If the Argos win Tuesday night, the semifinals would take place Friday night at 7 p.m. The Frontier Conference Championship Game will be played next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the home court of the highest remaining seed.
