CCC Adjusts Conference Soccer Schedule

Conference Also Revises Spectator Policy

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Cascade Collegiate Conference announced that they have made changes to the conference soccer schedule for the upcoming season. The changes were made due to Evergreen State College opting out of their soccer season. The league also announced revised spectator policies.

Both men's and women's soccer will have now have a total of 12 teams participating. The conference has adjusted the schedule to an East-West division model. Each team will play the five teams in their division twice for a ten-game schedule.

The Argos were placed in the East Division, alongside Carroll, College of Idaho, Eastern Oregon, Multnomah and Rocky Mountain College. The regular season will take place over five weeks, with games being played on Sunday and Monday.

"Moving to a divisional model in soccer allows for us to significantly reduce travel and expenses for our members," commissioner Robert Cashell said. "We also have adapted the schedule so teams will play each other back-to-back days in order to minimize exposure to COVID-19."

The conference also voted to eliminate the conference tournament at the end of the season. The CCC will award an automatic qualification to the NAIA National Tournament to the top team in each division.

Both the men's and women's soccer teams will open the season on March 7 on the road against College of Idaho. Their first home game will be the following week against Multnomah.

The league also announced that spectators will not be permitted at any CCC events until further notice. CCC member schools intend on live streaming the majority of events, with the schedules being found at the CCCWebTV link or by going to each athletic department's website.
