GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence will hope to enter their winter break on a high note as the team prepares for a challenging three games at the Cactus Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.

The Argos (7-3, 1-1) will kick off the tournament with a game against Antelope Valley on Dec. 17. They'll then take on Benedictine-Mesa that Saturday before concluding the trip with a game against Embry-Riddle. All games will take place at Chandler-Gilbert Community College in Chandler, Ariz.

"We love this trip every year," head coach Steve Keller said. "It'll be a great trip for us this time of the year. We're happy to get out of the cold weather and go down and play some good basketball."

The squad hasn't played a game since Dec. 4, when the team lost on the road to MSU-Northern. The team has spent the two weeks since then returning to their fundamentals and tuning up their principles.

"This break has been really good for us," Keller said. "We've got to get down to the basics with our offense and defense again. We're better than we were two weeks ago."

The team has been dominant on offense this season, with four players scoring in double-digits. Marcus Stephens leads the way, averaging 21.0 points of 46.7% shooting from the field. Rashee Stocks isn't far behind him, averaging 17.0 points per game. Dawson Fowler is averaging 11.0 points per game, while Elijah Oliver is averaging 10.0 points off the bench.

The tournament also presents an opportunity for Keller to reach a personal milestone of his own. Should the team win all three games at the Cactus Classic, Keller would achieve 300 career victories as a head coach.

"It would mean a lot that in 15 years I could get to that 300 mark," Keller said. "I've been blessed with being able to coach really good players and alongside really good coaches. It's a milestone for me but also means I'm old."
