GREAT FALLS, Mont. – After a wild
double-overtime thriller Wednesday night, the #10 University of Providence men's basketball team will have to regroup quickly as they prepare for a doubleheader against Montana Tech this weekend.
The Argos (8-1, 8-1) will tip off against the Orediggers (9-7, 9-5) at 7 p.m. on Saturday and on 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Head coach
Steve Keller has emphasized treatment and recovery since Wednesday's game, especially considering the fact that five guys played over thirty minutes.
"Our focus has been to rest," head coach
Steve Keller said. "We had guys play a lot of minutes on Wednesday. We kept them off their feet, stretched them out a little bit. The biggest thing is rest. We don't have many practices here on out so we have to focus on that."
The two teams have already faced off against each other in the opening games of the conference season. In both games, the Argos raced out to large first-half leads, but allowed the Orediggers to make it interesting in the second-half. The Argos won both times, but the Orediggers were without starting big man Taylor England, who is active for the games this weekend.
"We were fortunate to win both of those games," Keller said. "They played without their best player Taylor England. He's back now. They're going to be a very, very tough team to beat. We think they're one of the best teams in our league."
The Argos are also a tough team to beat. The Argos are averaging 88.3 points per game, 13 points more than any team in the conference. They also lead the league in field goal percentage (47.7%) and assists per game (16.8 apg).
"We like who we are," Keller said. "It'll be some good games this weekend."
